TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – When it comes to feast, preparing thanksgiving could be like preparing some food for the whole blocks. You only have 6 to 7 people to feed but you will cook for 20. And it will lead to some other problem, what to do with leftover.
You could keep it in your refrigerator for no more than 4 days. More than 4 days the bacteria will come after the food. So you better eat them before that.
If you have family members traveling in from out of town, they’ll be so thankful to wake up the day after Thanksgiving to be served even more delicious bites.
Well here we list you some recipe you could take to serve your leftover in more delicious bites.
1. Spicy Smokey Turkey Sandwich
Tuck leftover turkey into a simple stack of cheese, spicy mayo and a leftover dinner roll with several fresh veggies such as slices of cucumber and tomato along with lettuce.
2. Indonesian Turkey Fried Rice
If you happened to have leftover rice this is a perfect way to have your turkey. Crush 2 cloves of garlic, 3 cloves shallot or onion, and sauté them with 2 tbs of hot oil on a wok for 30 second.
Add the rice and ground turkey into it. You may add some other leftover things such gandar chicken of ham, keep sautéing at least for the next 5 minutes and your delicious Indonesian Turkey Fried Rice is ready to be served.
3. Mashed potato Fritata
Your mashed potato could be turned into delicious fritter. Just add ground garlic and pepper into it. Add shredded carrots, some beansprout, minced cabbage, and celery into it. Make a small ball, coat it with egg and deep fried for 3 to 5minutes. And your family will gobble up with it. It will works for the turkey, chicken, or smoked pork.
4. Turkey Curry Soup
Grab a bag of curry paste at the local Asian market. Sauté it with satu tbsp of hot oil in a pan, add a glass of water, bring it into boil. Add some diced carrot and celery, simmer it for a minute or two. And then add the turkey, let it simmer for another 10 minutes.
Adjust the water so it won’t be so thick, you may add another glass or two. Add a glass of coconut milk and bring it to a boil for another minute while stirring it up. And your leftover food is ready to serve. Happy Thanksgiving. (*)
